IberBlue Wind approaches younger students to promote offshore wind
It's undeniable that the new generations have embraced environmental respect and energy consciousness. They are increasingly aware of the finite nature of the planet's resource, furthermore, the exploitation of some of them, such as fossil fuels, leaves a negative environmental footprint and has detrimental environmental impacts.
To foster this awareness and highlight benefits of renewable energy and its potential as an alternative energy source, IberBlue Wind has launched a collaborative project with educational centers throughout Spain.
The Guadalete School, located in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), hosted the first of these informative talks. Julio Vera, the Director of Stakeholder Engagement Director, delivered an engaging and practical presentation on various renewable energy sources, their prevalence in Spain and also, the emerging trends that are shaping this sector’s future.
Among these emerging trends, Julio discussed offshore wind, its potential and exploring strategies for its integration within local communities where it is situated.
One of the offshore wind farms proposed by IberBlue Wind is located off the coast of Cadiz, named Nao Victoria. It will occupy an area of 310 km2 in the Alboran Sea, with approximately 55 wind turbines and an installed power of 990 MW; which could supply electricity to hundreds of thousands of homes.
Students were able to learn about the Nao Victoria’s project specifics, for example, that the project will be located between 25 and 40 km from the coast and will employ floating technology to accommodate wind turbines at deeper sea depths.
The Iberblue Wind team extends its gratitude to the administration of Guadalete School, as well as its students and educators, for their keen interest in the renewable energy sector and the warm reception they extended to the team.
