IberBlue Wind and ISQ partner to promote offshore wind in Portugal
IberBlue Wind has signed a collaboration agreement with the Portuguese technology centre ISQ to work together on the development of floating offshore wind farms in Portugal. The country wants to carry out one of the most ambitious energy plans in Europe for the coming years and, within the framework of offshore wind, with a target of reaching 10GW awarded and 2 GW installed by the end of this decade.
ISQ is the largest technology centre in the country, with expertise in the areas of testing, inspection and certification, among many others, and with a long track record in the renewable energy market. This centre is at the forefront in the provision of development and innovation services and has participated in reference projects, both as a technology partner and in the area of training through the ISQ Academy.
For its part, IberBlue Wind has so far designed two offshore wind farms in Portugal: Botafogo, off the coast of the town of Figueira da Foz, with a capacity of 990 MW and an investment of more than 2.5 billion euros; and Creoula, near Viana do Castelo, with 1,440 MW and an investment of more than 3.5 billion euros.
The partnership between IberBlue Wind and ISQ will provide the Portuguese offshore wind market with new services in the area of training and other services that ISQ provides in this sector of activity, such as QA/QC, 3rd Party Inspection and ESG services.
